The Principal Secretary (PS) for Public Investments and Assets Management Mr. Cyrell Wagunda met the Trainers of Trainees (ToTs)  of the Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) System at KISM Towers, Nairobi.

The meeting was aimed at reflecting on the achievements, challenges and lessons learnt in the rollout and implementation of the System over the last financial year, and chart the way forward for the current Financial Year.

He noted that, the successful rollout of the e-GP System is one of the most significant public sector reforms undertaken by Government in recent years.

He observed that, the success has been attributed to the dedication and commitment of the TOTs to ensure that most Procuring Entities were able to transition to the e-GP platform and undertake procurement transactions electronically.

He highlighted that, a total of 1,546 Procuring Entities have been successfully onboarded onto the e-GP platform as at June 2026 where 4,470 contracts with a cumulative value of approximately KSh 18.3 billion having been awarded.

Additionally, over 30,000 procurement requisitions have been processed through the system and more than 12,000 tender notices have been published electronically.

"Your role in training, mentoring and providing technical support to Procuring Entities has been instrumental in this success. These milestones demonstrate the growing confidence that Government institutions have placed in the e-GP System within one year of implementation and the Government has already begun to realise significant benefits among them enhancing transparency in public procurement," said the PS.

He underscored the need to continue providing technical assistance, monitor utilisation of the system and further strengthen user competencies in readiness for the rollout of Phase II modules during the 2026/27 Financial Year.

He called upon the ToTs to serve with greater dedication, integrity and professionalism to consolidate the gains already made.

"e-GP System is a flagship Government reform that will fundamentally transform public procurement in Kenya. Its success depends not only on technology but also on the integrity, professionalism and commitment of the people entrusted with its implementation. I therefore urge each one of you to continue serving with dedication, honesty and a strong sense of public duty by supporting our Procuring Entities to ensure that Kenya's public procurement system becomes more transparent, efficient, accountable and responsive to the needs of our citizens," PS Wagunda concluded.

The PS was accompanied by the Director of Public Procurement Mr. Eric Korir, the Secretary of Administration Dr. Bahati Mwita alongside other senior officials in the State Department.
