PS WAGUNDA FORMALLY RECEIVES PUBLIC SECTOR PROCUREMENT AND ASSET MANAGEMENT LEADER OF THE YEAR AWARD

The Principal Secretary for the State Department for Public Investments and Assets Management (SDPIAM), Mr. Cyrell Wagunda, today formally received the Public Sector Procurement and Asset Management Leader of the Year Award, following his recognition at the 8th Africa Procurement and Supply Chain Summit and Awards 2026 held in Lagos, Nigeria.

The continental accolade acknowledges his leadership in advancing excellence in public procurement, asset management, and governance reforms.

Receiving the award, PS Wagunda noted that the recognition reflects the collective efforts of the State Department in strengthening public procurement systems, promoting accountability, and enhancing the prudent management of public investments and assets. He reaffirmed the Department's commitment to implementing reforms that support transparency, efficiency, and value for money in the utilization of public resources.

The Principal Secretary observed that effective procurement and asset management are central to sound public financial management and the successful delivery of Government programmes. He emphasized that the award reinforces Kenya's commitment to modernizing procurement systems, strengthening institutional capacity, and fostering a governance culture anchored on integrity, innovation, and accountability.

PS Wagunda also applauded the recognition of the Public Private Partnerships (PPP) Directorate, which received the Collaborative Governance Award in Public Procurement for its outstanding contribution to advancing innovative partnerships for infrastructure development and public service delivery. He noted that the achievement reflects Kenya's growing leadership in leveraging collaborative approaches to accelerate national development.

The awards reaffirm Kenya's position as a continental leader in procurement and asset management and underscore the country's continued commitment to strengthening public sector governance, enhancing investor confidence, and delivering sustainable development through effective management of public resources.
