The Principal Secretary for Public Investments and Assets Management, Mr. Cyrell Wagunda, earlier today met Supply Chain officers from the defunct National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) at the Treasury Building.

The officers, who have been deployed to the State Department for Public Investments and Assets Management (SDPIAM) by the Public Service Commission of Kenya (PSC), were formally received as part of the transition process ahead of their redeployment to various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) across the Government.

As the Scheme Administrator, the State Department is overseeing the transition to ensure the seamless deployment of the officers and the continued utilization of their expertise in strengthening public service delivery.

Speaking during the meeting, PS Wagunda reaffirmed the National Treasury's commitment to enhancing public financial management through efficient, transparent, and accountable public procurement systems.

He observed that procurement officers play a strategic role in the implementation of Government policies, programmes, and development priorities by ensuring that public resources are utilized prudently, procurement processes are conducted in compliance with the law, and citizens receive value for money.

The Principal Secretary noted that as Kenya continues to strengthen procurement reforms under the Public Finance Management framework, procurement professionals remain at the forefront of promoting integrity, competition, fairness, and accountability in the acquisition of goods, works, and services across Government.

He urged the officers to discharge their responsibilities with diligence and professionalism as they assume their new assignments in various MDAs.

"As you take up your new responsibilities across Government, I encourage you to uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct. Your expertise is indispensable in supporting sound public financial management, safeguarding public resources, and advancing efficient service delivery for the benefit of all Kenyans," PS Wagunda said.

The PS further assured the officers of the State Department's support throughout the transition process and encouraged them to embrace their new roles with commitment, recognizing the critical contribution of the procurement function to the realization of the Government's development agenda and the prudent management of public investments and assets.

The meeting forms part of the State Department's ongoing coordination of the transition process as Scheme Administrator, ensuring the orderly redeployment of officers while preserving institutional capacity and strengthening procurement functions across Government.
