PS WAGUNDA ENGAGES KEPDA LEADERSHIP ON STRENGTHENING PROCUREMENT FOR NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The Principal Secretary for Public Investments and Assets Management, Mr. Cyrell Wagunda, today hosted the senior leadership of the Kenya Procurement and Disposal Agency (KEPDA) for a consultative follow-up meeting, building on his recent visit to the Agency’s offices.

During the engagement, the PS received a detailed brief on KEPDA’s mandate, which includes facilitating efficient, transparent, and value-driven procurement and disposal processes across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

The discussions highlighted the Agency’s critical role in supporting prudent public resource management, enhancing value for money, and strengthening accountability in line with the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.

The meeting further explored the Agency’s strategic alignment with the Government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and the Fourth Medium Term Plan (MTP IV), particularly in enabling inclusive economic growth through streamlined procurement systems, support for local enterprises, and improved access to government opportunities.

The PS emphasized the need to reposition KEPDA as a center of excellence in public procurement, capable of driving efficiency and service delivery across government institutions under the Whole-of-Government Approach (WOGA). He underscored that a robust and responsive procurement system is central to accelerating project implementation and delivering timely, high-quality services to Kenyans.

Reaffirming his commitment, PS Wagunda pledged continued support towards strengthening KEPDA’s institutional capacity, addressing operational challenges, and enhancing its effectiveness in executing its mandate.
He also called on the Agency’s leadership to uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, punctuality, and discipline as key pillars in fostering public trust and delivering impactful results.
