PS WAGUNDA HOSTS LEADERSHIP FROM KENYA FISHING INDUSTRIES CORPORATION

The Principal Secretary for Public Investments and Assets Management PIAM Mr. Cyrell Wagunda today hosted Hon. Jimmy Kahindi and Dr. Mikah Nyamberi, the Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Fishing Industries Corporation (KFIC) respectively who paid a courtesy visit at the Treasury Building.

The meeting comes after KFIC was made a Government-Owned Enterprise (GOE) via the GOE Act of 2025 effectively being placed under the State Department for PIAM.

The two senior officials briefed the PS on the mandate, roles and the milestones the Corporation has made as well as the challenges encountered and possible intervention.

They also explored areas of strategic support and intervention to enable the Agency accomplish it's mandate of exploiting fishery resources in Kenya's fishing waters and high seas by promoting the establishment and efficiency of businesses engaged in fishing related activities.

Mr. Wagunda assured the leaders of his continued support to enable KFIC become a premier and global leader in the sustainable exploitation of fishery resources.
