PS WAGUNDA HOSTS UGANDAN PERMANENT SECRETARY FOR PUBLIC SERVICE

 
The Principal Secretary for Public Investments and Assets Management Mr. Cyrell Wagunda today hosted his counterpart, the Permanent Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Public Service Catherine Bitarakwate Musingwiire, who led delegation for a courtesy visit at the Treasury Building, Nairobi.

Ms. Bitarakwate was accompanied by Ugandan Commissioner for Pension and Task Manager for the Pension Reform and the Undersecretary Office of the President Representing the Head of Public Service and Secretary to Cabinet Ms. Betty Mutesa.

The three are in the country on the invitation of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Public Service Superannuation Fund (PSSF) Mr. Jonah Ayabei to benchmark the reforms being rolled out by the PSSSF and Pensions Department to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

In his remarks, the PS Wagunda thanked the delegation for choosing Kenya as a benchmarking destination saying that Kenya is ready and willing to share the journey of reforming PSSF and Pensions Department for the mutual benefit of the two friendly countries.

He noted that Kenya also seeks to learn more saying the exercise is more of an exchange program.
He added that, the Pension Department has rolled out significant milestones by digitization their operations, a process that has weeded out ghost pensioners and thereby saved millions of taxpayers’ money.

On her part, PS Bitarakwate thanked her counterpart for the warm reception saying that Uganda is keen to learn key reforms as it prepares to enhance service delivery in the Ministry of Public service.

Others present include the Secretary of Pensions Mr. Michael Kagika, Secretary of Administration Dr. Bahati Mwita and other senior officials from the State Department.
